LONDON (Reuters)
- British troops have returned to the southern Iraqi town of
Majjar for the first time since six military policemen were
killed there by gunmen on Tuesday, 24 June 2003.
Today's re-entry into Majjar was preceded by the dropping of
more than 50,000 leaflets by a British aircraft, aimed at
helping calm growing unrest in the area. |

These leaflets were dropped by U.S.-led
coalition forces last week along the eastern border of
Afghanistan in an operation to prevent insurgents from crossing
into Afghan territory from Pakistan to launch attacks. A leaflet
on top left, carrying a picture of Afghan President Hamid Karzai,
reads 'Support transitional government for better setup of

I've just listed
an interesting WWII propaganda leaflet on eBay.
Produced by British army units of PWD/SHAEF and artillery fired
onto German troops and civilians in Germany, 1945. This is quite
a rare
one so get bidding! ;-) The money generated from the sale
will help to keep this site running in the future. |

The problem with
running a non-commercial site like this is is the time it takes
from my personal life to update and the money from my pocket.
Especially as the site increases in size and gets more popular
the bandwidth goes up and so does the hosting costs. In a few
months time the bill for next years fee will be arriving and
it's going to be a big one! My disk space allocation is also
nearly used up and increasing the size is even greater expense.
To help keep the site going I will be selling a CD-ROM
containing a full English translation of the WWII PWE
"black" propaganda malingering booklet to persuade
German troops and workforce to fake illness to evade their duty.
Sales of this CD will help to keep the site going.
But if you enjoy this site and appreciate the work I've put into

Finally the Guest
Book has been restored and is fully operational again.
Due to my ISP changing to new servers there has been huge
disruption to this site and my email. It looks like I could have
lost around 60% of outgoing and incoming email! So if you have
corresponded with me recently and have not received an expected
reply this is the reason.

I'm still having
problems with part of the website. The Guest Book has totally
ceased functioning and the mail out programme for showing your
interest in my book on "black" propaganda stopped
working too! If you sent a message via the form in the last week
I will not have received it :-(

The Aerial
Propaganda Database has been updated. The biggest update is
the listing of the WWII "grey" newspaper Nachrichten
für die Truppe. More leaflets have been added to the ZG
Series PWD/SHAEF section as well as new Operation
Allied Force and Enduring
Freedom leaflets. Work in progress includes listing all the
WWI A.P. Series and integrating Operation Iraqi Freedom leaflets
into the database.
Due to problems with my ISP I have been unable
to send or receive email for the last week. If you contacted me
during this time I will not get your correspondence. Also my
Guest Book has been deleted. I'm trying to get this restored
with the previous entries.

It seems my
previous comments on the website Iraqileaflets.com
were inaccurate, they are NOT just selling a link to download
the US Government deck of cards of the top 55 most wanted
Iraqis. In fact they are selling a unique enhanced product. I
was also mistaken on the pricing of their product "The

my misinformed and slightly flippant comments! |

Caution:
Already fake Operation Iraqi Freedom leaflets are doing the
rounds on eBay. One seller
is making painfully bad ink-jet prints from scans of leaflets
available on the internet, not even at the correct size. Another
seller
is auctioning CD-ROMs containing scans of these freely, publicly
available leaflets. Buyer beware! |
